Diya wanted the Pichola at her back and her nani's Banarasi on her shoulders; Aarav wanted his baraat to arrive by boat. We gave them both. Four days flowed from a courtyard Haldi to a mandap on the palace terrace, the saat phere timed so the seventh step landed exactly as the sun dropped behind the Aravallis. Marwari rituals were honoured to the letter, with the pandit ji narrating each phera softly for the guests.
